Envoirimentalism and Tradition. Why are issues around the human destruction of the world that God has created seen as left wing? Industrialism coming out the enlightenment so called was behind mass urbanization, the rise of socialism and the decline of the Faith- surely Tradition cannot be on the side of blood sucking liberals who have no concern for future generations,God or community? It is these types who today blinded as they are in their greed will fight aganist pollution limits that are far to soft as being unfair and interfering. |

Re: Environmentalism and Tradition. Some reasons environmentalism is considered leftist: 1. It draws a lot of support from various forms of semi-materialistic pantheism--Gaia worship and so on. 2. It easily takes the form of secular apocalyticism [I assume that's a word!] with a secular deity in the form of the universal all-controlling bureaucratic state as the savior. 3. Since it's closely connected to left-wing religiosity, it generates a lot of junk science. That means it's messy to deal with--it's even more difficult than usual to tell what the facts are. I suppose another point is that the traditionalist Right is so far out of power they think it sensible to concentrate their efforts on things like traditional religion and morality that no one else wants to make a matter of public discussion rather than things other people are already pushing for. [None of the above suggests that the environment shouldn't be a concern for traditionalists!] Jim Kalb |
