Re: New Page on establishment of religion Jim, The new antidisestablishmentarian(!) page is a fine start for orienting people in the basics of the discussion. The questions are good but I suggest some of them be rephrased or compounded with questions dealing with more specific objections (i.e. What about religious minorities? Won't we have the Inquisition happening again?). It has been my experience that objections about the Inquisition and witch trials come up more than any others when discussing this particular subject. The resources you listed are more than adequate, but I think a new category for historical perspectives is appropriate in light of recent "historical analysis" literature attributing almost every imaginable evil to specific phases in Christianity (the _Sword of Constantine_ comes to mind). This also makes sense because established Christianity is (almost?) a thing of the past and the left values history mostly as a source of propaganda. I'm still developing ideas on this subject so I'll start a new discussion in another thread. |

Re: New Page on establishment of religion Thanks for the comments! I think the suggestion about the Inquisition, witch trials and so on is a good one. I also like the idea of adding a category for historical resources and perspectives. Jim Kalb |
