The following are things I've picked up that present
views rather at odds with those usually found in the mainstream press. I
have made no attempt to put together a collection that gives a balanced
picture of reality, of my own views, or of much else except maybe
serious issues and arguments that the mainstream press wants to avoid
because they are unpleasant or cause problems for liberalism. Plus, of
course, the occasional piece included simply because I found it
interesting for one reason or another.
- Charlton Heston on the Culture War.
- "The Rise of the FU Movement" by Mark Steyn. Who says there's no wisdom in typos?.
- "It`s Not Just the Balkans" by Srdja Trifkovic. The New World Order as the abolition of humanity.
- "A Principality in Utopia" by John O'Sullivan. State socialism is dead? Replace it with something far more refined!
- Fred Reed on the Nanny State.
- John Leo on how polls create facts.
- Jeff Jacoby on Roe versus Wade.
- Fr. James Thornton on euthenasia.
- A review, again by Fr. Thornton, of a book on our sensate culture.
- Sam Francis on Immigration.
- Fr. James Thornton on Immigration.
- More on immigration, a summary of objections.
- The Houston Chronicle on the effects of radical ethnic diversity in Los Angeles.
- Hadley Arkes on the forces of tolerance and antihomophobia in Los Angeles.
- Another discussion on the forces of tolerance, in this case in Canada.
- Still more, from the "city too busy to hate."
- And something on liberal hate speech generally, by Jeff Jacoby.
- A discussion of homosexuality. Somewhat homemade, but it includes references.
- Is Anyone Serious about Pluralism? How the relativism of multicultural society depends on the absolutism of the State.
- Jeff Jacoby on how the distinguished head of the President's race initiative, John Hope Franklin, promotes the cause of interracial understanding.
- Pat Buchanan on ethnic and religious aspects of "diversity" in elite academia. His column was based on this piece in the Wall Street Journal.
- Why not get real about interracial crime and interracial violence?
- Jared Taylor on The Color of Murder. Why is white-on-black so much worse?
- In the meanwhile, integration proponents are having their doubts.
- MONEY AND SCHOOL PERFORMANCE: Lessons from the Kansas City Desegregation Experiment -- not a rant, exactly, but food for ranting.
- More on multiculturalism, a far-right analysis with far too much truth in it.
- Meanwhile, our esteemed president advances the New World Order, with "human rights" running interference.
- Something about how the NWO wants to remake family life all over the world, and responses to the attempt.
- Speaking of family-related issues, here's something on the "gender pay gap".
- And here's something on the honesty of "expert" discussions of gender issues.
- Comments on illegitimacy and its consequences.
- Roger Scruton on pornography.
- Attitudes of the young toward sex. Not pleasing or hopeful, I must say.
- Walter Olson on "Tripp Wire: How informers ended up behind every office potted plant".
- Walter Olson on how the Americans with Disabilities Act makes the one-eyed king in the kingdom of the (metaphorically) blind, and lends itself to use by almost anyone.
- Something on psychiatric testimony in hostile environment lawsuits.
- Why guns are good for you.
- More on guns, by Professor Lott of the University of Chicago Law School.
- UCLA Law professor Eugene Volokh on the legal background of the Second Amendment.
- Professor Volokh also puts together CENTER-RIGHT, a periodic distribution of short center-right conservative or libertarian essays, often quite intelligent.
- Discussion of UN figures showing lack of relationship between murder, suicide and widespread gun ownership.
- Joe Sobran on the Forgiven Holocaust.
- Patrick Buchanan on how the views of The New York Times on Pope Pius XII have grown.
- More on Pope Pius XII.
- Walter Olson on the Swiss in WWII.
- A related discussion.
- Pacifica Radio about the Middle East and Madeleine Albright.
- An article from an Israeli newspaper about Jewish participation in the Clinton administration, especially with regard to foreign policy, part 1 and part 2. Even touching on the issue goes beyond ordinary political incorrectness. It can also be personally imprudent. I do think though that the articles raise issues about the nature of "diversity" and an administration that "looks like America" that are worth thinking about. In such a regime does the common interest disappear, and government become simply an arena for groups to pursue their particular interests?
- Some more stuff on the relationship between Jews and the Clinton administration, and also on immigration and the multicultural ideal. And while I'm at it I might as well throw in Joe Sobran on Jewish/Christian relations.
- And it seems foreigners are convinced American Jews are remarkably influential.
- This might be a good place to put in a discussion of hate speech.
- Also, selected comments on race from eminent progresssive H. G. Wells. G.B. Shaw wasn't much better, but I don't have quotes.
- Keith Ward on Stumbling Upon the God Theory.
- H.R.H. The Prince of Wales on "Why Does the Prayer Book Matter?"
- Religion and the News. Two institutions based on two very different understandings.
- So maybe it's best to drop out of modern communications.
- Sean Gabb on "the proposal to boot hereditary peers from the House of Lords".
- Sobran's - Real News of the Month.
- And why make a fuss anyway?
